Your Weekend Sports Update

So, for those of you looking for sporting conversation fodder for this weekend's social scene, the fate of the winless and the loss-less is still a relevant topic - see Tuesday update. But some of the biggest news in football this week actually happened before kick-off. After 20 years, Hank Williams, Jr's "All my rowdy friends" will no longer be heard on Monday Night Football. For those who may have missed this among the week's headlines of much more momentous events (Steve Jobs' death, Amanda Knox's long awaited freedom, etc.), he made an ill-advised comment on Fox News seemingly comparing Obama to Hitler.

Now while I'm all for free speech, regardless of your politics you have to respect at least the office of the President. And when you're in the public eye, you have to be even more careful about what you say. While I'll miss the song (sorry fellow Mississippians, but I did prefer it to Faith Hill's Sunday Night Football intro), I think I'm with ESPN on this one.

Welcome your comments...

Back to the business at hand, I personally think the Packers and Lions will stay undefeated, and I'm thinking we'll see the Colts and the Vikings get a win. Let's see how I do!

  1. Very interesting about Old Hank. I do agree with you and ESPN on this one too. As for sports, all I can say is Go Dawgs! MSU finally showed up for the 2nd half of the UAB game and pulled it out. Sorry everyone, but I'm SEC all the way!
